PeaceJam UK has been working with schools and youth groups since 2006 through its education programmes and teacher-friendly resources.

We offer a range of curricula suitable for ages 5-18. These resources draw on the lives of the Nobel Peace Laureates as positive role models to encourage children and teenagers to discuss controversial issues of diversity, tolerance, social justice, conflict, and non-violence.

The resources include:

Guidance Document Compassion in Action

PeaceJam resources have been used very successfully with a range of young people, from those struggling to engage with school to the most academic.

The materials have been designed by a former teacher, for teachers and educationalists.

Each lesson plan has been carefully mapped to show how it meets UK educational standards, with different learning outcomes by ability range in the class, and handy worksheets you can print out or photocopy. They can be used in core lessons (such as RE, Citizenship, PSHE or History), or in lunchtime and after-school clubs, or drop-down days.

What University Students Say

Impact

More than 1.25 million young people worldwide have participated in PeaceJam programmes.

330 Youth Conferences have been held worldwide, connecting young people with Nobel Peace Laureates

Nearly 2.5 million community service projects have been developed by PeaceJam participants.

PeaceJam has created thousands of new leadership and volunteer opportunities for children, teenagers and young adults.

Young people involved in the programme spend on average over 40 hours working on peace-related learning and social action with an adult leader (this can include teachers, mentors, community leaders, and PeaceJam staff)

Evaluations have shown that young people who participate in PeaceJam programmes show a measurable improvement in academic skills and knowledge. They also become more engaged in school and community.

Incidents of violence have decreased in schools and community-based organisations where PeaceJam programmes have been implemented.
